How much does a remap cost?

At a tuning garage the price can vary between £200-£500.
When you take your car to be tuned a lot of companies will just upload ready-made files and charge you a lot of money.

You can do this yourself, and its actually very simple and easy!
The best route to take is to buy a good re-map file. Its not recommended to make your own unless you know what you are doing as you could damage your engine. If you are mechanically minded and know a lot about engines, you can gradually change the parameters within the Map file, and test which setting give you the biggest power increase.
The equipment needed to take the original file from your cars ECU is a KWP 2000, or a KWP2000 plus. This just covers more models. The KWP 2000 plugs into your laptop, and directly into your cars OBD2 port, or diagnostics port.
This is designed to be used mainly with Bosch EDC15 ECU’s, which a lot of cars have.
Where can I get a KWP 2000 and a reliable Re-map file?
A KWP 2000 will cost around £30-£70 and a remap file can be obtained obtained pretty cheap, or even for free on here, this will save you lots of money!

Remember that you must tell your car insurance company if you have modified your car!
